‘Life is like a box of…’ Genres! At the Kickoff event, each team receives two genres in a random drawing. Whether it is “Comedy or Horror” or “Musical or Mystery”, each team must ensure that their film fits into one of the genres–or a combination of both.

Holiday Family Secret
A story in which a hidden truth, long-kept secret, or unexpected revelation involving a family is discovered or threatens to come to light during a holiday gathering or celebration.
Holiday Found Family
A story about people finding a sense of family during a holiday—either by forming close bonds with people they are not related to, reconnecting with long-lost relatives, or discovering family they never knew they had.
Holiday Ghost Story
A supernatural story involving ghosts, spirits, hauntings, or unexplained forces, with a holiday playing an important role in the story.
Holiday Gift Exchange / Shopping
A story in which buying, finding, making, giving, receiving, or exchanging gifts during a holiday becomes an important part of the characters’ journey or conflict.
Holiday Homecoming
A story centered on someone returning home during a holiday and reconnecting with family, friends, a community, or a part of their past.
Holiday Romantic Comedy
A lighthearted story centered on love, where humor drives the journey toward a romantic connection during a holiday.

A story in which characters must survive, escape, or overcome a dangerous, disastrous, or increasingly chaotic situation during a holiday.
