It's Finally Here...

Filmmakers are taking over Atlanta and turning it into movie-making madness for 48 hours! Teams of filmmakers have a single weekend - this one - to write, shoot and edit their short films! All completed entries will be unveiled at our premiere screenings.

Here are some important notes for 48HFP filmmakers:

  • Elements: The required elements for Atlanta will be listed on this page after kickoff.
  • Media: You must submit your film according to the formats listed lower on this page.
  • Documents: You must submit releases for all team members, all music, all locations, and any other copyrighted material, as well as a team leader's agreement, a roster, and a certification statement. These forms can be downloaded from our Production Documents page:
  • Team Leader Agreement: This document must be filled out by the Team Leader and uploaded to prior to the Kickoff.  Find instructions here: 
  • Rules: You should make sure that your film complies with our Filmmaking Rules and Competition Rules. If you have questions about the rules, the best place to go is our Frequently Asked Questions.
  • 48HFP Hotline: If you have a question during the filmmaking weekend, call the 48HFP Hotline. The number is on the Kickoff Info Sheet that is provided to all Team Leaders by the City Producer prior to Kickoff. If you email us, you will probably not receive an answer in time, so please call.
  • Dropoff: Your film and paperwork must be uploaded to Find instructions here:

Kickoff Event

Fri, Oct 23, 2020 @ 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Click this link for your free tickets: Filmmakers it's the day you've all been waiting for. It's time to get your Genre, Character, Line of Dialogue, and Prop and make your film. This kickoff event will be a virtual event. Team leaders or a representative must be present at kickoff. As many team members as you wish may attend the kickoff event. Once team leaders log into the Zoom conference, they are to click the chat button and sign in. Screening/Competition groups will be pre assigned. We will call each team according to their screening group and run the genre randomizer for you. This is how you will receive the genre you will be filming. After all the genres have been assigned we will give you the character, line of dialogue, and prop for your film. Once everything is assigned the City Producer will announce your official start time and your 48 Hour clock will start counting down. All the details about the film, Character, Line of Dialogue, and Prop will be available to view on the Atlanta 48 Hour Film Project Website. Prior to filming please fill out the Safe Sets Survey by clicking this link. Dropoff Event

Sun, Oct 25, 2020 @ 12:00pm - 7:30pm
by 7:30pm to be on-time

Film dropoffs this year will also be virtual. Your film will be considered on time if the films upload begins before 7:30 p.m.  Your film will be given a time stamp which indicates when the upload began.  Films that are turned in late will screen, but are not eligible to win the grand prize.  However, the film will be eligible for viewers choice awards and individual awards.

Virtual Screening Cafe

Screening tickets for the 2020 Atlanta 48 Hour Film Project will be $8.00 for a single screening group and $12.00 to view all the screening groups' films.  As in past years there will be a vote to choose an audience choice award winner from each screening group.  Each vote my be attached to an individual ticket for that screening group.  Voters must vote for  3 films in each group.
