Vote For The First Ever World Film Championship - Latin AmericaTuesday, October 25, 2016

Film fans around the world are watching and voting for their favorite films to determine the winner of the inaugural World Film Championship ( for Latin America. The finalists, all films made for the 48 Hour Film Project in 2015, were determined last week by online voting. Now YOU can vote on the winner.

On October 19, the top 16 films from countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean were randomly assigned to film groups. Thousands of people from around the world viewed the films and voted for their favorites. The voting was open for five days, closing on Sunday, October 23rd.

The winners of this first round of group voting were announced on Monday. They are:

· “Quien mató al alcalde?” by PROYECTO Z, Arequipa, Peru

· “Sullu” by ColorFx, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia

· “Big & Mac Files” by BYOF, Curaçao

· “Siempre Volvemos” by Nopalix Films, Mexico City

Voting to determine the Latin American Champion is open now through Sunday, October 30th at We need your help to choose the top film in Latin America! 'We expect a fierce competition between these films,' said Mark Ruppert, creator of the 48 Hour Film Project. 'This is the opportunity for Film Lovers throughout the world to help determine the winner.'

About The World Film Championship-Latin America

This online vote to determine a regional champion is the first of its kind in the history of the 48HFP. The eligible films were the winners and 2nd place films from Latin American and Caribbean 48 Hour Film Project cities in 2015. Based on the success of this competition, the World Film Championship will return in 2017 in all regions throughout the world and will culminate in a global winner. The World Film Championship-Latin America is made possible through a grant by the Mexico City Tourism Office.
