Ready To Make More Films? Four Points And 48HFP Horror Project!Tuesday, September 26, 2017

Fall at the 48HFP is filled with fun, fright, and well...filmmaking! Our U.S. 48HFP tour has come to an end, but our international tour is still in full swing. And if you missed out on this year's regular 48HFP competition in your city, or you just can't get enough of us, we're giving you another chance to get your filmmaking fix, no matter where in the world you live!

Leading our lineup of specialty competitions is the Four Points Film Project. The 4PFP is our official online-only timed filmmaking competition, and it's open to anyone in the world, even if there's not a regular 48HFP in your city! It is the same concept as the 48HFP, but filmmakers have 72 hours to complete their films, and the Kickoff Event and Dropoff Event are handled online so that location is not a barrier.

The 4PFP films are all judged by a panel of film professionals, and the top 4PFP film will be awarded $3000 USD and will screen at both Filmapalooza 2018 and the Cannes Film Festival 2018 Short Film Corner. Additionally, the top 15 films will be made available online where the general public will vote for the winner of Audience Favorite, who will receive $1000 USD and also screen at Filmapalooza 2018.

This year's 4PFP will be November 10th - 13th.  Early Bird Registration is open now. Sign up before October 16th to save $25 off the registration fees. Register and get more details at

What's your favorite scary movie? If you like horror films, then the 48HFP Horror Project is the competition for you! Coming to select U.S. cities over the next few months, the Horror Project is almost EXACTLY like the regular 48HFP--all films must be made in just 48 hours and will include a character, prop, and line of dialogue that aren't revealed until Kickoff. The catch? The films must all be made in a genre of horror!

Just like our flagship competiiton, Horror Project filmmakers will draw a slip with two different genres (one from Group 1 and one from Group 2)--their film must be made in either of the two genres, or a combination of the two. Our genre options are every horror fanatic's dream...or nightmare, that is! There are traditional horror genres like vampires, monsters, and zombies, along with some new genres for this year, such as Escape Room, Home Invasion, and Religious Cult! Check out the full list of this year's genres at

The Horror Project is coming to just eight different U.S. cities this fall. Feeling brave? Then check out the cities and tour dates at

Finally, we have a couple specialty competitions that are SO special that they're only coming to a single city each this year! The CineKid 48HFP (which takes place in the Netherlands this October 13th - 15th) was organized for CineKid, the world's largest children's film festival. The CineKid 48HFP challenges teams to make the best short children's film in a single weekend. Learn more about this year's competition at And in Los Angeles, filmmakers can celebrate the holidays a little early by competing in the 48HFP Holiday Project. Filmmakers will get a chance to show us their holiday spirit (and love of fast-paced filmmaking) this October 27th - 29th by making a film with a randomly selected genre AND holiday theme in just 48 hours.  No matter what kinds of films you like to make, or where in the world you live, the 48HFP has something for every filmmaker this fall!
