The Los Angeles 48 Hour Film Project, held in mid-September was a huge success.
44 filmmaking teams started the competition. At the Kickoff Event, teams drew the genre for their films in a random drawing. (Genres included: Comedy, Romance, Film Noir and Super Hero, to name but a few.) Then it was off to the races as each team had only 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a short film beginning Friday evening at 7 p.m.
Sunday evening, 40 teams submitted their
movies. 26 teams were on time, 14 teams were late, and 4 teams dropped
out. Screenings were held at the Laemmle Fairfax Cinema in Hollywood.
More than 1,100 people, including industry insiders, were on hand
to see the premiere of the LA 48 Hour Films. The films left the
audience impressed by the high quality that was achieved in such
a short time.
