The Durban 48 Hour Film Project

The 48 Hour Film Project comes to Durban on the weekend of 10 - 12 October 2014. Filmmakers from all over the Durban area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world.

This year, teams will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Once the initial registration is complete, we will add teams to a waiting list.

Regular registration is R1,000. The final day of registration is 9 October (Thursday).

Durban 48HFP Events

Pre-Competition Networking Event

Date  27 September (Saturday)
Time  11am - 1pm
Place  Keyline Graphics, 144 Florida Road, Morningside
Notes  A pre-competition networking event will be held two weeks before the competition, on 27 September. The event will begin at 11am. Filmmakers are encouraged to attend this event because important competition information will be shared. It is also an additional opportunity for people to network. For those who are not in teams and want to join a team, this is the event to do it at. There are a lot of people who are interested in entering but do not have a team, so join us on 27 September and you may just find the dream team you've been looking for.

Place  Campus of Performing Arts (COPA) - Teams to assemble at 5.30pm promptly, 79 Smiso Nkwanyana Road (Goble Road), Morningside
Notes  Teams to assemble by 5.30pm. Genres will be assigned and the three necessary elements, which need to feature in every film will be revealed to participants. Teams must depart before or by 6.45pm. The official start of the competition is 7pm.

Time  5.30pm - 8pm (by 19:30 to be on time!)
Place  Campus of Performing Arts (COPA), 79 Smiso Nkwanyana Road (Goble Road), Morningside
Notes  Teams can start dropping off their completed films from 5.30pm. PLEASE NOTE: The cutoff time for films to be officially in the running for the competition is 7.30pm. Any films handed in from 7.31pm to 8pm will not be in the running for the competition. However, ALL films that are handed in to the CP will have a screening at Suncoast CineCentre the week thereafter.
