The Austin 48 Hour Film Project
What Happened During Your Weekend?
The Austin filmmakers share stories from their wild weekend of filmmaking. (Blogging ended shortly after the filmmaking weekend.)
What a job!
Its unanimous among my team; this was an amazing experience. This wasn't only our first 48HFP, but our first short film period! Everything came together so well for us. We're proud of what we've done, and we've gotten such a great response from friends and family. What an honor to have Devin the Dude appear in our short, especially considering the subject matter. Kicking it backstage with him was just too sick... It all was.

48HFP hangover complete
The screenings are done, the audience awards have been handed out and the cast has a copy of the film... yep, the 48HFP hangover is officially over (for us at least- we missed the deadline). It's been 6 years since I last 48HFPed but it's still the same ridonkulously fun experience around.

What a great time!
I want to give a shout out to my team, who did an amazing job working together without even knowing each other.
We all did our part and got it done!
You should all be very proud that not only did we have a touching story but that we used each element TWICE in the film.
2 Vincent Lowes, 2 uses of balloons, & used the line Twice!
Congrats to everyone and a job well done. Lets win this thing next year!

A potter?!?
Our team competed in the Dallas 48 back in late April. This Austin race definitely had a crazy set of elements compared to Dallas, but I think that really pushed us to come up with a smart way to incorporate them into a script (a potter and a balloon?!). Lucky for us, one of our crew members actually teaches pottery, and our lead actress is a quick learner!

Head's Still Spinning
It was a wild weekend. We had a final script by 1pm Saturday with loads of shooting and editing to accomplish. It was God that we finished and with no time to spare. The final .mov finished copying to the flash drive at 7:15pm. This was the smallest team I've worked with: 6 all together. The credits start to seem very redundant. I'm excited to do more films now that it's all over.

Go Major Freedom!
We had a great time working together on "The Continuing Adventures of Major Freedom!". We kept the team small, only 9 people total, and usually only 5 people on set at a time. We had great writers, and that was the biggest help. If you have a good, short script (5 pages is best) and a good director, you can move fast and get quality work done. We even took a break to watch the USA soccer game! I'm very proud of our team. We made a good film and had a great time. This was my 7th year to participate in the 48 hour film competition, and I look forward to next year!

Major shouts outs to our team!!
What a crazy final 12+ hours!! From fcp crashing multiple times, to having to log and transfer all of the files thus not even being able to start editing until after 4:30p... Huge ups to Joe Morrow for getting the story together in time! Also mad props to everyone else who wad busting their butts around the greater south-central atx with the different contingincy plans during that final hour and half. To have something to turn in at 7:28p... I can't tell you all how proud I am to have had each and everyone of you on my team.

It was Fun/Wild and HOT!!
I enjoyed working with our excellent film team. A group. who put in a lot of hard work, and extremely long hours on hot sweaty locations.
These people displayed not only talent but the ability to work together well on a short deadline.
